Also a songwriter and pianist, she creates alternative/pop music under the name Robyn Cage, and her debut album Born in the Desert topped Music Connection Magazine’s list of 25 Best New Music Critiques of 2015. In NYC, Robyn continued her training with celebrity vocal coaches Don Lawrence (Lady Gaga, Christina Aguilera, Bono) and Cari Cole (Journey, Diane Birch).

Robyn earned her BFA from The Boston Conservatory and went on to become an accomplished musical theatre actress in NYC where her performances garnered praise from The New York Times and Variety. Robyn Kemp’s powerful soprano and impassioned live performances have dazzled audiences from Boston’s Symphony Hall to the stages of New York City and thousands at outdoor festivals. When not busy performing and teaching he enjoys spending time with his wife and five children.

An active performer, he has extensive experience as a professional bassist in jazz, classical and various other musical styles, including performances with Howard Levy, Jeff Hamilton, the New York Voices, Greg Gisbert, Jake Shimabukuro, Groove For Thought, Clint de Ganon, Bob Christianson, and Clifford Carter, as well as the Cadillac Symphony Orchestra, and performances on electric bass and jazz bass with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra.

In 2014 he was also awarded the Hal Leonard Scholarship from the Jazz Education Network for exceptional talent and potential in jazz performance and education. He is the recipient of several DownBeat awards for Best College Big Band as bassist with UNC’s Jazz Lab I, Outstanding Vocal Jazz Ensemble as a vocalist with UNC’s Vocal Lab, and for Outstanding Small Ensemble Composition for his original composition Airplanes. After completing his master’s degree, he taught courses in jazz theory at Central Michigan University and served as Community Outreach Coordinator for the School of Music. He has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in bass performance from Central Michigan University, and a Doctor of Arts in Jazz Studies and Bass Performance from the University of Northern Colorado. I have countless exercises to help advance a student's technical agenda and love to go in depth on hand technique, touch and tone, but also make sure that first and foremost it's about making music and the instrument is our vehicle for expressing that.īraun Khan is Assistant Professor of Double Bass and Jazz Studies at Utah State University. I strive to make sure students feel like they leave each lesson feeling like they have really made music. Blissonance by Never Weather is his debut album as a band leader and was just released in January on Bay Area Label, Ridgeway Records. He can be heard playing both drums and vibes on recent recordings with Alan Hall’s Ratatet, The Jeff Denson Quartet, and Erik Jekabson’s Electric Squeezebox Orchestra and leads several of his own projects, including Never Weather, The Table Trio, and Beyond Words: Jazz and Poetry. Dillon was also acknowledged as the Most Promising Young Jazz Artist of 2017 from the Buddy Montgomery Jazz Legacy Awards. In 2014, Dillon won 1st place in the Jazz Search West soloist competition on vibraphone. Dillon has performed with Art Lande, Hafez Modirzadeh, Royal Hartigan, Marcus Shelby, Erik Jekabson, Jeff Denson, Alan Hall, Jovino Santos Neto, Marcos Silva and Kate McGarry. He has also performed overseas at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland and the Umbria Jazz Festival in Italy. He has recorded at Fantasy Studios, and played with many musicians at The Freight and Salvage, Yoshi’s, and the SF Jazz Center. He grew up in San Jose, where he played many small club gigs on drums and marched snare drum for the Santa Clara Vanguard.

He is also an experienced educator with over 10 years of teaching experience both privately and through schools and institutions. Dillon Vado is a professional drummer and vibraphonist in the San Francisco Bay Area, and a graduate of the California Jazz Conservatory in Berkeley.
